FROM THE SOUTHERN ROUTE
From Raton, New Mexico proceed north to Walsenburg, CO. on I-25, From Walsenburg
head west on Hwy. 160 all the way (past Durango) to Cortez, From Cortez head north
on Hwy. 666 to Dove Creek, From Dove Creek take Hwy. 141 North until it reaches
Hwy. 145, Turn Right, proceeding East on Hwy. 145 to Norwood, Colorado, Continue
one mile East on Hwy. 145 past the town of Norwood, Turn Right (South) on Lone
Cone Road, Take Lone Cone Road 7 miles You will see the Gurley Lake, were on the
left The log entrance has a sign that says "Wing Shadow Ranch".
FROM COLORADO SPRINGS
From Colorado Springs take Highway 24 West to Johnson Village (which is just 2
miles south of Buena Vista). Turn left (South) on Highway 285. Proceed South to
Poncha Springs and turn right (West) on Highway 50. Go up over Monarch Pass, down
through Gunnison (166 miles from Colo. Springs to Gunnison). Continue west on
Highway 50 another 65 miles, until you reach Montrose.
Once you reach Montrose, take 550 South 26 miles to Ridgway. Then take 62 West
(right) 23 miles, at Placerville stay right and Hwy 62 will become Hwy
145. Following along the San Miguel River for about 16 miles, you will finally
cross the bridge and begin the climb up Norwood Hill. Proceed West up Norwood
Hill on Hwy 145. (Norwood Hill is about a 2 mile, steep hill with extreme drop
offs along the canyon wall).
Once you're at the top of Norwood Hill go about 1 mile Just past the Amerigas
propane tank (large white tank) Turn LEFT (South) on Lone Cone Road. (if you get
to the Norwood Cemetery, you've missed your turn on Lone Cone Road).
Proceed 7.2 miles South and the Lodge is on the Left (It's the entrance just past
the Gurley Lake Ranches.) We have a sign over our driveway entrance that says
"Wing Shadow Ranch"
FROM MONTROSE
Once you reach Montrose, take 550 South to Ridgway Then take 62 West (right)
which will turn into Hwy 145.
Proceed West up Norwood Hill on Hwy 145. (Norwood Hill is about a 2
mile, steep hill with extreme drop offs along the canyon wall).
Once you're at the top of Norwood Hill go about 1 mile Just past the Amerigas
propane tank (large white tank) Turn LEFT (South) on Lone Cone Road. (if you get
to the Norwood Cemetery, you've missed your turn on Lone Cone Road).
Proceed 7.2 miles South and the Lodge is on the Left (It's the entrance just past
the Gurley Lake Ranches.) We have a sign over our driveway entrance that says
"Wing Shadow Ranch"
FROM PUEBLO
There are so many options, it's really hard to say which is the best route. Tom
has driven it several different ways and he still is not sure which is the best.
Your Internet options might be able to give you an accurate idea on the mileage.
Here is one option that we feel is pretty clean:
get to Pueblo, Colorado.
From Pueblo take Highway 50 West through Canon City, Salida and up over Monarch
Pass, down through Gunnison (159 miles from Pueblo to Gunnison). Continue west
on Highway 50 another 65 miles, until you reach Montrose.
Once you reach Montrose, take 550 South 26 miles to Ridgway. Then take 62 West
(right) 23 miles, at Placerville stay right and Hwy 62 will become Hwy
145. Following along the San Miguel River for about 16 miles, you will finally

FROM TELLURIDE
From Placerville turn left (west) on Highway 145. Following along the San Miguel
River for about 16 miles, you will finally cross the bridge and begin the climb
up Norwood Hill. Proceed West up Norwood Hill on Hwy 145. (Norwood Hill is
about a 2 mile, steep hill with extreme drop offs along the canyon wall).
Once you're at the top of Norwood Hill go about 1 mile Just past the Amerigas
propane tank (large white tank) Turn LEFT (South) on Lone Cone Road. (if you get
to the Norwood Cemetery, you've missed your turn on Lone Cone Road).

FROM THE NORTHWEST
From Grand Junction, take Highway 50 Southeast through Delta, Olathe, and into
Montrose. Once you reach Montrose, take 550 South to Ridgway. Then take Highway
62 West (right) which will turn into Hwy 145. From Ridgway Norwood is about
38 miles west, along the winding San Miguel River.
Proceed West up Norwood Hill on Hwy 145. (Norwood Hill is about a 2 mile,
steep hill with extreme drop offs and no guard rails, along the canyon
wall)
Once you're at the top of Norwood Hill go about 1 mile. Just past the Amerigas
propane tank (large white tank), turn LEFT (South) on Lone Cone Road. (if you
get to the Norwood Cemetery, you've missed your turn on Lone Cone Road).
**Proceed 7.2 miles South and the Lodge is on the Left. (It's the entrance just
past the Gurley Lake Ranches.)We have a sign over our driveway entrance that says
"Wing Shadow Ranch".
Alternative Route from Grand Junction:
Take Highway 50 Southeast to
Highway 141. Proceed on Highway 141 for about 2 ¸ hours. This drive is very remote.
Cell phones do not work and there is only one gas station in Gateway that is open
sometimes. About 4 miles past Naturita, Hwy 141 becomes Hwy 145 (stay to
the left, do not turn right). Proceed on Hwy 145 to Norwood. Go one mile past
Norwood to Lone Cone Road and turn Right. From here follow the ** directions above.
FROM THE SOUTHEAST
Coming up from Cortez, take Highway 145 North Proceed through Placerville, turning
left at the Junction of 62 and Highway 145, staying on 145. Continue up Norwood
Hill on Hwy. 145. (Norwood Hill is about a 2 mile, steep hill with extreme
drop offs along the San Miguel Canyon wall.
Once you're at the top of Norwood Hill go about 1 mile Just past the Amerigas
propane tank (large white tank) Turn LEFT (South) on Lone Cone Road. (if you get
to the Norwood Cemetery, you've missed your turn on Lone Cone Road).
Proceed 7.2 miles South and the Lodge is on the Left (It's the entrance just past

Alternative Route from Cortez:
Take Hwy. 666 up through Dove Creek to Hwy 141. Continuing North on 141 to Hwy
145 and turn right. Proceed Southeast on Hwy. 145 to Norwood. Go one mile past
Norwood to Lone Cone Road, (just past the Norwood Cemetery). Turn Right on Lone
Cone Road.
